Position Summary:
Coordinate the store planning and reporting of merchandise sales results compared to budgets and plans at Division, Department; Class and Store level. Administer the distribution of merchandise to the stores based on store sales, receipt and inventory plans. Ensure effective utilization of Arthur and Basic Stock Replenishment systems. Provide guidance and support to subordinates to enable them to achieve all financial and personal objectives.

Director of Planning and Distribution

Primary Responsibilities:
Work with the planners and buyers to create supporting and detailed business plans to include strategic objectives, seasonal transitions, business trends, and sales plans by class.
Implements appropriate assortment plans of fashion and core items to satisfy customer demand. Determine the inventory levels to support visual presentation and store demand for all sales volume groups to maximize sales opportunities by store.
Manage store planning process to capitalize on the opportunities of the past history and current trend to achieve sale plans at store/class level. Ensure effective utilization of the Arthur store planning system to identify these opportunities
Ensure the proper balance of sales and inventory at all times by region, climate, and store to achieve sales to plan.
Manage the transition between seasons with the appropriate mix of merchandise to achieve zero out targets and begin shipping the initial merchandise assortments the new season.
Responsible for building bottom up store plans.


Qualifications:
5-10 year as retail experience in merchandising, planning or distribution. Minimum of 3 years of prior supervision required.
College graduate and/or industry trained professional.
Strong interpersonal, presentation, and supervisory abilities, technical knowledge in PC based systems and application software, including Arthur, MMS, and Island Pacific.
