Director of Marketing and Communications The University of Hertfordshire - UK

As part of a dynamic process of strategic development, UH is seeking to appoint a Director of Marketing and Communications to take responsibility for planning and directing all Marketing and Communications activities designed to meet the University’s objectives. Of particular importance will be the effective management and implementation of the Department’s strategic plan to realize its vision to be a new model of a university, and leading the development of the University’s brand identity. The Director will report to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University, playing a key role on the Senior Management Team and providing inspirational leadership with staff in the Marketing and Communications Department, encompassing sections with responsibility for Brand Communications, Business Marketing, International Marketing, Fundraising and Corporate Affairs. Through creating strong internal and external working relationships, the Director will also be accountable for the delivery of an effective operational service that meets the day-to-day needs of the University.

Candidates will need to appreciate the eclectic range of stakeholders and audience within the University context, and will be genuinely excited about cementing the reputation of the University of Hertfordshire as one of the leading institutions in the UK. Whilst knowledge of higher education or the public service would be an advantage, an empathy with the goals and aspirations of on institution committed to becoming a first-class, first choice University is essential. The selection panel will be seeking the best combination of significant leadership experience in a marketing context at a senior level, strong management capabilities and exceptional personal skills.
